We want you to create meaningful, engaging and high-quality materials. Such articles attract readers, build an audience and make the journal stronger. We believe it is fair to share part of the revenue generated by ads shown in your articles.

That’s why we built a transparent royalty system where your earnings depend on the popularity of your publications.

What royalties are

When a reader opens your article and sees an ad block, an ad impression is recorded. These impressions generate advertising revenue, and part of it is distributed among authors.

The more people read your article — the more impressions — the higher your royalty.

How the journal earns revenue

The Magazine works with advertising partners and receives payment for ad impressions shown in the journal. At the end of each month the system determines:

  • how much revenue the ads generated in the journal
  • what percentage goes to authors (usually 20%)
  • what share each author receives based on impressions in their articles

How your earnings are calculated

Your royalty depends on:

  1. the number of real views of your articles
  2. the total advertising revenue for that month

Example calculation

  • Ad revenue: 1000 USD
  • Author pool: 200 USD
  • If your articles account for 30% of all impressions, you receive 60 USD.

How impressions are counted

  • your own views are not included
  • bots and artificial traffic are filtered out
  • only real readers are counted

When royalties are credited

During the first three working days of each month — for the previous month.

How you receive the money

After the calculation:

  • the amount is added to your internal balance on Photo.travel
  • you receive an email notification
  • you see a notification on the website

The money is added directly to your balance.

How to increase your earnings

  • write high-quality content
  • update your articles
  • share your publications
  • choose evergreen topics that stay relevant

Your article income is permanent

Even if your article was published a long time ago, it will continue generating proportional royalties from ad impressions. However, newer articles typically attract more readers, so income from older articles gradually decreases. To grow your earnings, it is best to publish new content regularly.
